Frequently Asked Questions

What is GoAccess?
GoAccess is an open-source real-time web log analyzer and interactive viewer that runs in a terminal in Unix systems or through the browser. It provides fast and valuable HTTP statistics for system administrators that require a visual server report on the fly.
Where do I find my web server log files?
For standard setups, you can locate access logs at:
  • Apache (Ubuntu/Debian): /var/log/apache2/access.log
  • Nginx: /var/log/nginx/access.log
  • DreamHost Shared Hosting: Under your home folder at ~/logs/example.com/http/access.log
Are my server logs stored or shared?
No. We prioritize data privacy. The raw logs you upload are processed instantly in a secure directory and deleted immediately. The generated HTML report is stored securely for 30 days so you can access it, after which it is automatically purged.
Can I use this tool offline?
This online tool processes uploads on the server, but the generated report itself is a single, self-contained HTML file. You can save/download the report file directly to your computer and view it offline in any browser with full interactivity.
