\n1 Introduction to Shuttle Devices
\nContour Shuttle devices have been designed to enhance the productivity of multimedia content
\ncreators, but they also increase productivity in many other types of applications, including:
\n\u2022 graphics and photo editing
\n\u2022 word processing
\n\u2022 spreadsheet manipulation
\n\u2022 internet operations
\n\u2022 medical imaging
\n\u2022 any application that uses key commands
\nContour Shuttle devices consist of two (2) components: the ergonomically designed device itself
\nand the software that allows you to manage it.
\nAll Contour Shuttle devices have a Jog wheel and a Shuttle ring that are programmable.
\nThe ShuttleXpress has five (5) programmable buttons, the ShuttlePRO has thirteen (13)
\nprogrammable buttons, and the ShuttlePRO 2 has fifteen (15). The two top rows of buttons on
\nthe ShuttlePRO series have removable caps so the included labels can be inserted for quick
\nreference as to which functions each button is programmed to perform.
\nButtons, Jog wheel and Shuttle ring will be referred to as Shuttle components.

\nThe Shuttle device software allows you to manage a specific configuration of your Shuttle
\ndevice for every application you have on your computer.
\nThe software will automatically select the appropriate configuration according to the current
\nactive application.
\nThe installation package provides pre-installed settings (factory settings) for many common
\napplications; you can modify these settings at anytime and\/or create new settings for other
\napplications, through the Shuttle device Control Panel.
\n1.1 Installing Shuttle Device Software
\nIt is recommended to install the software before plugging your Shuttle device into any
\navailable USB port.
\nShuttle devices are \u201cplug and play\u201d: there is no need to shutdown and restart your computer
\nwhen you plug or unplug the device from a USB port.

\nSystem Requirements
\n\u2022 System running Windows 98, 98SE, ME, 2000 or XP.
\n\u2022 Available USB port. (A direct USB port connection is desirable, but a hub connection will
\nalso work. Contour recommends using powered hubs and against using conversion
\ndevices, such as USB adapters.)
\n\u2022 10 Mbyte of hard disk space for the Shuttle device driver installation.
\nInstallation Procedure
\nNotes:
\n1) It is recommended that you close all other applications that may be running on your
\nsystem and that you disable any virus protection software until after the installation is
\ncomplete.
\n2) If you have any previous Shuttle devices driver installed on your system, please refer to
\nparagraph 6 (Updating or Uninstalling your Shuttle device Software) before proceeding.
\n3) For Windows 2000 and XP users: installing the driver requires system-administrator
\nsecurity privileges.

\nLocate and double-click the Contour Shuttle device driver installer.
\nA dialog box will prompt you through the installation process. Once installation is
\ncomplete you should receive a message stating, \u201cContour Shuttle Device Driver has

\n2 Shuttle Device Control Panel
\nThe Shuttle Device Control Panel is the component of the software that allows you to manage
\nyour Shuttle device by defining and\/or modifying application settings.
\nApplication settings are the individual sets of actions associated to the Shuttle components for a
\npre-determined application. Stated differently, the Control Panel manages application settings.
\nChanges performed on the application settings are enabled as soon as you click on the Apply or
\nOK button in the Control Panel.
\nThe Control Panel does not need to be open when you use the Shuttle device.
\nThe software automatically detects the program you are using and automatically switches to
\nthe correct application settings associated with the application.
\n2.1 Control Panel Overview
\nThe Shuttle device Control Panel provides a specific properties page for each type of Contour
\nShuttle device. The page related to your Shuttle device will be enabled as soon as you plug the
\ndevice into your computer for the first time and will remain even after unplugging the device.
