\nCONNECT WIRELESS HEARING PROTECTOR
\nfeaturing Bluetooth\u00ae wireless technology
\nBasic Operations
\nCharging the Headset:
\nTo comply with regulatory guidelines, your hearing
\nprotector has been shipped to you with only a
\npartial charge on its integrated lithium ion battery
\npack. To charge the hearing protector, insert
\nthe supplied micro-USB connector cable into
\nthe micro-USB jack located on the bottom of the
\nright cup of the hearing protector. Connect the
\nother end of the cable to a suitable USB power
\nsource such as a computer or third party certified
\n(UL, Intertek, etc.) AC to USB wall adapter.
\nThe LED will be blink blue while charging and
\nchange to solid blue when complete.
\nFitting the Headset:
\nFully extend sliders and place cups over ears.
\nThen, tighten headband using sliders.
\nPower and Volume:
\nPress and hold power button for 3 seconds to
\npower ON\/OFF headset. Voice Assist will
\nannounce \u201cPower ON\u201d or \u201cPower OFF.\u201d Voice
\nassist will also provide a battery status update –
\n\u201cBattery High,\u201d \u201cBattery Medium,\u201d \u201cBattery Low,\u201d
\nor Battery Empty. Adjust the volume using your
\nconnected device.
\nLow Battery Warning:
\nHearing protector will also provide a \u201cBattery Low\u201d
\nwarning every 20 minutes when battery voltage is
\nlow. An additional Battery Empty\u201d warning will
\noccur as hearing protector powers down.
\nRecharge the unit at this time.
\nAuto Shut-Off:
\n5 minutes after either Bluetooth\u00ae or the audio
\ninput is disconnected, the hearing protector will
\nautomatically power down.
\nAfter auto shut-off, press and hold the ON\/OFF
\nbutton for 3 seconds to turn back on.

\n– Ensure hearing protection is properly fitted. Follow any fitting instructions included

\n~ \u00b0\u00b0 ?\u00b0t bend \u00b0r reshape the headband, as this will cause a loose fit and sound leakage.
\n\u2018 For best Protection, the ear cushions should seal firmly against your head. Anything
\nthat interferes with the seal such as long hair (pull back to the extent possible) thick
\nor poorly fitting eyeglass temples, pencils or caps will lessen the protection.

\nBluetooth\u00ae Range
\nThe typical range between a Bluetooth\u00ae device
\nand the WorkTunes\u2122 Connect Wireless Hearing
\nProtector is approximately 25 feet. This distance
\nmay vary depending on the device. As the distance
\nbetween the Bluetooth\u00ae device and the hearing
\nprotector is increased, the risk of signal dropouts will
\nalso increase. For best results, keep your Bluetooth\u00ae
\ndevice on your body or within arm\u2019s length of the
\nWorkTunes\u2122 Connect Wireless Hearing Protector
\nwhile using Bluetooth\u00ae mode.

\nConnect the device using a compatible 3 or
\n4-pole 3.5mm stereo audio cable. Turn on the
\nhearing protector.
\nControl device:
\nUse the native controls on the device to control
\ninput volume, pause\/play, and select tracks.

\nUse device controls
\nPairing the Device:
\nOnce powered on, double press the button on the
\nhearing protector\u2019s right cup to enter pairing mode.
\nYou will hear \u201cBluetooth Pairing ON.\u201d Make sure your
\nBluetooth\u00ae enabled device is scanning\/searching
\nfor devices. Check your device to make sure it has
\ndiscovered \u201cWorkTunes Connect.\u201d Select \u201cWorkTunes
\nConnect\u201d to connect to the hearing protector. Once
\nconnected successfully, you will hear \u201cBluetooth
\nConnected\u201d and the LED on the right cup will turn blue.
\nYour Bluetooth\u00ae audio volume will be controlled by
\nyour device.
\nThe next time you power up, your hearing protector
\nwill automatically connect to your device and say
\n\u201cBluetooth Connected.\u201d
\nForward\/Back or Pause\/Play*
\nTo pause or play audio on your device, you can single
\npress the button on the right cup. To advance tracks,
\ndouble press the button. Triple press to select the
\nprevious track.
\n*Some devices may not be compatible with this
\nfeature and will have to be operated using their
\nnative controls.
\nIncoming Calls
\nIn Bluetooth\u00ae Mode, incoming phone calls will
\ncause the music to be muted and you will hear your
\nphone\u2019s ringtone until the call has ended. To answer
\nan incoming call, press the button on the hearing
\nprotector once. To disconnect from a call, press the
\nbutton once more. After disconnecting from the call
\nyou will hear \u201cCall Terminated.\u201d
\nTo reject a call and return to Bluetooth\u00ae audio, press
\nand hold the button. After rejecting a call you will
\nhear \u201cCall Terminated.\u201d

\nThe level of noise entering a person\u2019s ear when a hearing protector is worn as directed is closely
\napproximated by the difference between the A-weighted environmental noise level and the NRR.
\nEXAMPLE
\n1. The environmental noise level as measured at the ear is 92 decibels dB(A).
\n2. The NRR is 24 dB(A).
\n3. The level of noise entering the ear is approximately 68 dB(A).
\nCAUTION
\nFor noise environments dominated by frequencies below 500 Hz, the C-weighted environmental
\nnoise level should be used. The NRR used in the above example was achieved under
\nlaboratory conditions.

\nAUDIO INPUT LEVEL
\nThe audio level in the hearing protector is dependent on the audio input level. To prevent
\nharmful noise levels, the hearing protector audio level is limited to 82 dB(A) when connected
\nto a Personal Music Player (PMP). If the hearing protector is connected to a PMP or other
\ndevice with a very high output level, it is the user\u2019s responsibility to set the audio input level
\nto a safe level. The maximum permitted audio input level for 8 hours of usage time, compressed
\nspeech and music is 2.12 V.
\nWARRANTY
\nThe WorkTunes\u2122 Connect Wireless Hearing Protector is warranted to be free of defects in
\nmaterial and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of original purchase.
\n3M will, at its option, repair or replace without charge, except for transportation costs, parts
\nthat fail under normal use and service when operated and maintained in accordance with our
\ninstructions. This warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, abuse or unauthorized
\nmodifications. Proof of purchase is required to verify eligibility.
\nEarmuffs must be regularly inspected for cracks, worn parts, and for proper fitting.
\nReplace as needed.
\n– Do not immerse in water. Clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use harsh or
\nabrasive chemicals.
\n– Do not store the hearing protector in direct sunlight or at temperature above
\n131\u00b0F (55\u00b0C).
\n– (Devices with Safe Volume Technology) Do not change between \u2018Safe Volume Control\u2019
\nand \u2018Limiter\u2019 settings during a single workday.
\nThe WEEE logo (shown at the left) appears on the product to indicate that this
\nproduct must not be disposed of or dumped with your other household wastes.
\nYou are liable to dispose of all your electronic or electrical waste equipment by
\nrelocating over to the specified collection point for recycling of such hazardous
\nwaste. Dispose of components in accordance with all applicable local and
\ngovernmental regulations.

\nNOISE REDUCTION RATING (NRR)
\nThe Environmental Protection Agency (ERA) has selected the Noise Reduction Rating (NRR)
\nas the measure of a hearing protector\u2019s noise-reducing capabilities. 3M makes no warranties
\nas to the suitability of the NRR as a measure of actual protection from any noise level
\nsince such protection depends on the sound level (loudness), how long you listen to the loud
\nsound and how well you fit the earmuff over your ears. Although hearing protectors can be
\nrecommended for protection against harmful effects of impulse noise, the NRR is based on
\nthe attenuation of continuous noise and may not be an accurate indicator of the protection
\nattainable against impulse noise such as gunfire.
\nWhen worn according to the User Instructions, this hearing protector helps reduce exposure
\nto both continuous noises, such as industrial noises and noises from vehicles and aircraft, as
\nwell as very loud impulse noises, such as gunfire. It is difficult to predict the required and\/or
\nactual hearing protection obtained during exposure to impulse noises. For gunfire, the weapon
\ntype, number of rounds fired, proper selection, fit and use of hearing protection, proper
\ncare of hearing protection, and other variables will impact performance. If your hearing
\nseems dulled or you hear a ringing or buzzing during or after any noise exposure (including
\ngunfire), or for any other reason you suspect a hearing problem, your hearing may be at risk.
\nTo learn more about hearing protection for impulse noise, visit www.SMcom\/hearing.
\nThe NRR may overestimate the hearing protection
\nprovided during typical use due to variation in fit,
\nfitting skill and motivation of the user. 3M recommends
\nthe NRR be reduced by 50% or in accordance
\nwith applicable regulations, for estimating
\nthe amount of noise reduction provided.
\nThe NRR for the WorkTunes\u2122 Connect Wireless
\nHearing Protector is 24 dB(A). Improper fit of this
\ndevice will reduce its effectiveness in attenuating
