\nUsing the wrong extinguisher on a fire
\ncould do more harm than good. Be sure
\nyou understand whicil extinguisher is
\nappropriate for each class of fire. For
\nprotection against ALL COMMON
\nCLASSES OF FIRES, you must choose a
\ntype ABC extinguisher.
\nInspection And Maintenance
\nTo ensure that your fire extinguisher
\nwill be ready when needed:
\n\u2022 Read and follow all instructions on
\nlabel and in owner’s manual.
\n\u2022 Inspect the extinguisher AT LEAST
\nonce a month \u2022 more frequently if
\nexposed to weather or possible
\ntampering.
\n\u2022 Check that extinguisher is charged.
\nPointer on pressure indicator MUST
\nbe in green section. If pointer is in red
\nor white section..extinguisher is NOT
\nready for use.
\n\u2022 Be sure the lock pin is firmly in place.
\n\u2022 Keep the extinguisher clean. Check
\nfor dents, scratches, corrosion or any
\nother damage.
\n\u2022 Check the discharge noule. Make
\nsure it is clean and free of obstructions.

How To Use Your
\nKidde Extinguisher
\nFollow instructions
\nshown on the front label
\nof your f ire extinguisher.
\nAfter the fire ,s out, clean up dry chemical
\npowde, 1mmed1ate ly to avoid corrosion.
\nCAUTION: Under certa,11 frre and heat
\ncond1t1ons, the dry chemtCal powder In
\nABC type extinguishers will cause damage
\nor prove extremely difficult to
\nremove frorn oven surfaces, including
\nself-cleaning models. Do not use selfcleaning
\nfeature to remove ABC Powder.
\nBC type extinguishers are recommended
\nfor cooking areas.
\nCAUTION: The ager1t contained in this
\nextinguisher is not toxic, but may cause
\nskin irritation. Avoid inhaling the dry
\nchemical agent. In case of contact, flush
\naffected area with clean, cool water. If
\nirritation persists, contact a physician
\nimmediately. Chemical name of agent is
\nprinted on extinguisher label.
\nFor more information on fire fighting, contact
\nyour local fire department or the U.S.
\nCoast Guard. Additional information on
\nextinguishers can be found in the National
\nFire Protection Association (NFPA) pamphlet
\nNo. 1 O, ” Portable Fire Extinguishers.”
\nMounting Your Extinguisher
\nPlease follow the instructions and diagrams
\nbelow for mounting the bracket
\nthat was supplied with your fire extinguisher.
\nThe hanger or bracket provided
\nwith the extinguisher must be used. Use
\nof an extist ing hanger or bracket may not
\nproperly support or retain the extinguisher.
\nU.S. Coast Guard approval is valid only
\nwith the marine mounting bracket specified
\non the instruction label of your
\nextinguisher.

\nWITH A PLASTIC BRACKET AND METAL
\nSTRAP then mount your extinguisher as
\nfollows:
\n1. Fasten bracket to suitable
\nsurface using a screw in the upper bracket
\nmounting hole.
\n2. Mount the metal strap provided with your
\nextinguisher in the lower bracket mounting
\nhole u~ng another screw.
\n3. Place extinguisher into bracket and latch
\nthe strap to hold the extinguisher securely
\nin place.
\nIF YOUR EXTINGUISHER WAS SHIPPED WITH
\nA HOSE AND HOSE STRAP, then ~ide the
\nhose strap over the bottom of the cylinder,
\nand secure the nozzle end of the hose to
\nthe hose strap before placing your extinguisher
\nin service.
