Room placement is flexible; however, for best bass performance place
your Core Sub close to a wall or in a corner, leaving 3˝ to 4˝ (5 cm – 8
cm) of space between the Subwoofer and the wall (as shown below).
Bass is a personal preference, so we encourage you to experiment to
find the placement that best suits your listening tastes.

WIRELESS CONNECTION
Pair your Core Sub with a Core speaker so they can be remembered as
a pair on the network:
NOTE:
The subwoofer can be wirelessly connected to
only one
Core
speaker at a time.
Steps to Pair:
Make sure your Core Sub is powered on.
1.
On your Core speaker (must be powered on)
, press and hold the
POWER key and the VOLUME key for 5 seconds.
2. Wait for the LED on the top of the speaker to flash green, once,
confirming pairing with your subwoofer.
The main LED on the subwoofer will flash purple to indicate that it is
ready to establish a wireless connection.
3.
On your Core speaker
, press the MULTI-ROOM key .
The main LED on the subwoofer will turn solid purple to indicate that
the wireless connection is made.
Your Core speaker and subwoofer will now remain paired, even after the
system is powered off.
Steps To Unpair:
To unpair the subwoofer from your Core speaker:
1.
On your Core speaker (must be powered on)
, press and hold the
POWER key and the VOLUME key for 5 seconds.
2. Wait for the LED on the top of the Core speaker to flash red, once,

The LED on the Subwoofer will now flash purple to indicate that it is
ready to establish a new wireless connection.
Connecting the Core Sub to a Different Core Speaker:
In order to connect to a different Core speaker:
1. Unpair your Subwoofer and Core speaker by following the “Steps to
Unpair” (page 6).
2. Pair with the new speaker, following the “Steps to Pair” (page 6).
What to do if Pairing Fails?
If pairing fails:
1.
On the Core speaker,
enable pairing mode by pressing the
POWER key and the VOLUME key, until the top LED flashes
green.
2. Press the MULTI-ROOM key on the Core speaker and wait for the
Subwoofer to connect.
If pairing is still unsuccessful:
Turn OFF the Core speaker and Subwoofer and make sure that they
are both on the same network channel (
see “Creating An Alternative
Multi-Room Network (Groups)”, below
).
CREATING AN ALTERNATIVE MULTI-ROOM NETWORK (GROUPS)
You can create up to four multi-room networks in order to create
separate groups within one household or between households (e.g.,
to resolve network conflict with a neighbor). This allows for up to four
separate Subwoofer pairings within the same house.
Example of a Multi-Room Network
If you have a TV in the family room and another one in the living room,
or a bedroom, or basement, you simply select different channels for
each pairing so that all groups (speaker and subwoofer) operate
independently and without interfering with each other.
You can have up to 4 separate Core speaker and subwoofer pairings
throughout your home, with each Core speaker playing with its own
Core Sub.
NOTE:
All Core speakers and Core Subs ship with Channel 1 selected
by default.

To Select a Different Channel for a Group
Follow the instructions below for each Core speaker and Core Sub that
you want in the group:
1. Turn off the Core speaker and/or Subwoofer and disconnect
the power adapter.
2. Remove the wireless module from the rear of the Core speaker
or the side of the Subwoofer (see diagram).
IMPORTANT: Be careful not to touch or damage the pins!
On the Core Sub, this wireless module fi ts snug so that it does not
audibly vibrate. If you have trouble removing the module with your
fi ngers,
we recommend using a small tip tool to gently pry it loose
.
3. On both the Core speaker and Core Sub, slide the Alternative
Network switch to channel 2, 3 or 4. (Each speaker and Subwoofer
must be set to the
same
channel.)
4. Replace the wireless module.
5. Turn the Core speaker and/or Subwoofer back on.
6. Follow the pairing procedure for your Core speaker and Subwoofer,
as detailed in “Steps to Pair”, earlier in the manual.

WIRED (LINE-IN) CONNECTION
Connect one end of the 3.5-mm cable (supplied) to the Subwoofer’s
Sub IN port and connect the other end to the Core speaker’s SUB OUT
port.
Automatic Switching from Wireless to Wired Mode
When the 3.5-mm cable is plugged into the Subwoofer’s Sub IN port,
the unit will automatically detect the connection and switch to wired
(Line-in mode).
All wireless functionality will be automatically turned
off.
If the 3.5-mm cable is unplugged, the Subwoofer will automatically
revert to wireless mode.
vOLuME CONTrOL ANd MuTINg
On the Core Sub, Volume and Muting are controlled by the Core
speaker, either on the speaker itself or by using the Remote Control unit.
For additional information, please refer to the Instructional Manual that
came with your Core speaker.
SuBWOOFEr CONTrOLS
Once set, all of the following Subwoofer control settings will be retained
until you manually change them.

10
PHASE ADJUSTMENT
Across a narrow band of frequencies,
bass from your Subwoofer will overlap that
produced by your Core speaker. Start by
setting the Phase switch to 0°, then play a
piece of music or soundtrack with plenty
of deep bass. If bass sounds too boomy, or
too weak, switch Phase to 180°.
The amount of bass is a personal
preference, but your Subwoofer
should never call attention to itself by
overpowering the music playing from
your speaker. Adjust Phase so that your
Subwoofer and speaker are playing nicely
together.
CROSSOVER CONTROL
Crossover is the frequency at which your
Subwoofer takes over from your Core
speaker to reproduce the deep bass notes.
The crossover settings provided below
allow you to control your Core Sub’s upper-
frequency cut-off point.
We have found 120 Hz to be the most
reliable crossover point. However, room
acoustics and personal listening tastes
play a role, so we encourage you to
experiment to find the crossover point that
best suits your preferences.
GAIN (OUTPUT) ADJUSTMENT
Gain allows you to match the output
of your Subwoofer to that of your Core
speaker. Gain is not the same as volume
adjustment.
To begin, using the GAIN “--” key, turn gain
all the way down to its lowest setting. Using
the GAIN «+» key, gradually, turn gain up
until output from the Subwoofer blends
naturally with music playing from the
speaker.
Default Crossover
setting is 120.
Default GAIN
setting is 0.
Default phase
setting is 0°.

The Subwoofer Won’t Turn On
Make sure the power supply is properly connected to the Subwoofer’s
input jack and plugged into a wall outlet.
Press the POWER key to turn Subwoofer ON or to disable Standby
mode.
Delayed Pairing Time
Occasionally, pairing may take up to 20 seconds. (Think of it as your
computer trying to establish a new wi-fi connection — it’s a similar
process and not instantaneous). You will hear a sound notification
(Beep)
from the Core
while the network establishes connection. Once
the connection is established, the beeping stops.
Wireless Connection Lost
The Subwoofer features a built-in sensor that automatically detects
when the 3.5-mm cable has been plugged in, even when no electrical
signal is flowing through the cable. When the cable is detected, the
Subwoofer automatically switches to Wired (Line-in) mode and all
wireless functionality is automatically turned OFF.
Check the main LED indicator to ensure the Subwoofer has not switched
to Wired (Line-in) mode.
Subwoofer is Unresponsive
to User Input
If the Subwoofer is unresponsive to
user input (e.g. unable to power off,
keys not responding, etc.), simply
RESET by pulling the power cord from
the wall.
