IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

When using your telephone equipment, basic safety precautions should 

always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and injury to 

persons, including the following:
1.   Do not use this product near water, for example, near a bath tub, wash 

bowl, kitchen sink or laundry tub, in a wet basement or near a 

  swimming pool.

2.   Avoid using a telephone (other than a cordless type) during an electrical 

storm. There may be a remote risk of electric shock from lightning.

3.   Do not use the telephone to report a gas leak in the vicinity of the leak.

4.   Use only the power cord and batteries indicated in this manual. Do not 

dispose of batteries in a fire. They may explode. Check with local codes 

  for possible special disposal instructions.

      Wall Mounting

Installing Batteries In The Telephone

  

        Warning

The telephone can be operated with or without AC adapter. The full 

range of telephone functions can only be utilized if batteries or the 

power adapter (optional) are used.

The battery compartment is located on the base of the telephone. Open 

the battery compartment and insert 4 x AA batteries (not included). Pay 

attention to correct polarity. Close the battery compartment cover.

When the batteries are weak, the icon          appears in the display. 

Replace the batteries.

1.  Use a flat-blade screwdriver or the tip of a pen to lift and remove the

  battery compartment door.

2.  Insert four AA batteries into the compartment as indicated by the 

polarity symbols.

3.  Snap the battery compartment door back into place.

Connecting The Telephone

1.  Connect the AC adapter (optional, not supplied) to the DC 9V 200mA 

jack at the top end of the telephone and a standard AC outlet.

2.  Plug one end of the telephone cable supplied into the 

TEL  LINE

 jack 

at the back of the telephone base.

3.  Plug the other end of the telephone cable into the wall outlet.

4.  Plug one end of the curly cord into the socket on the handset.

5.  Plug the other end of the curly cord into the left side of the telephone.

Method A

To fit to an existing telephone wall plate with modular connector simply:

1.  Lift out the handset tab holder on the base of the unit. Rotate it 180°, 

and snap it into place (fig. A) so it will hold the handset in place when 

the phone is mounted on the wall.

2.  Insert the mounting bracket’s two tabs into the matching slots on the 

phone’s base (fig. B).

3.  Then press down and slide the bracket upward until the tabs snap 

into place.

4.  Plug the short telephone line cord (supplied) into the base of the 

phone and plug the other end into the telephone wall plate socket.

5.  Position the mounting holes on the base of the phone over the two 

protruding screws on the wall plate. Gently push the phone flush 

against the wall plate then slide the phone downwards locking it into 

place.

Method B

Attach directly to a wall:
1.  Drill two holes vertically, one above the other, 83mm apart, and leave 

the screws protruding from the wall by 5mm. 

2.  Follow steps 1 and 2 above. 

3.  Then press down and slide the bracket upward until the tabs snap 

into place. 

4.  Plug one end of the telephone cable into the 

TEL  LINE

 jack at the 

back of the base. 

5.  Plug the other end of the telephone cable into the telephone socket, 

then align the base’s keyhole slots with the screws and slide the 

phone downward to secure it.

Wall Mounting 

 

 

              Operation

Basic Settings

1.  After installing the batteries, the display should flash the word 

ENGLISH

”. If not, press and hold     button for approximately 

  4 seconds.

2.  Select the desired language using     or     buttons. Press 

DELETE

 

button to confirm.

3.  Select the desired contrast setting (2=Default) using     or     buttons. 

Press 

DELETE

 button to confirm.

4.  Set the hour (00-12) using     or     buttons. Press 

DELETE

 button 

  to confirm.

5.  Repeat to set minute, month and day.

6.  Set the 

TONE/PULSE

 using     or     buttons. Press 

DELETE

 button 

to confirm.

If you wish to change the language, contrast, time settings at a later 

date, press and hold     button for approximately 4 seconds and repeat 

steps 2-6 above.

When the telephone is not in use, the date and time, number of new and 

total number of calls stored in the Caller ID memory will be shown on the 

display. The display will show the caller number (and name if available).

Making A Call

1.  Pick up the handset or press      button (the LED will light) and wait 

for a dial tone.

2.  Dial the number you wish to call. The display will show the number 

that you are dialing. If you dial a number over 14 digits long, it will 

show the last 14 digits only.

3.  When you have completed your call, hang up the handset or press 

          button again to release the telephone line.
It is possible to switch from a handset to speakerphone conversation by 

pressing the      button and picking up or hanging up the handset 

accordingly.

Pre Dialing A Call

1.  Dial the number you wish to call. To correct a number press 

DELETE

 

button for each incorrect digit.

2.  Pick up the handset or press      button or 

CALL BACK

 button.

Receiving A Call

When you receive a call, the telephone rings, the Ringer LED flashes, 

and the display shows the 

CALL#

 and the caller telephone number 

(when caller ID service is activated). This feature allows you to decide to 

pick up the phone or not depending on who is calling. 

If you want to talk to the caller:
1.  Pick up the handset or press      button to answer the call.

2.  At the end of the call, return the handset to the cradle or press      

button again.

Operation

Redial Function

Use this function if a number that you have dialed is engaged and you 

are unable to get through. The last number dialed will be saved in the 

telephone automatically. To use the redial function:
1.  Lift the handset or press      button.

2. Press 

REDIAL

 button. The last saved redial number will 

automatically be dialed.

Pause

This function is often required for phone banking or when using a PBX 

system.You can insert a 3.6 second pause while dialing or storing a 

number into 

MEM

. Press 

REDIAL

 button at the desired point in number 

to insert a pause.

Flash

The 

FLASH

 button can be used to obtain a new dial tone after ending a 

call. The 

FLASH

 button is also a useful feature for special telephone 

services such as Call Waiting and Three-Way Calling.

Note:

 These special telephone services must be subscribed to 

separately from your local phone company.

Call Timer

Immediately after dialing a telephone number a call timer will be shown 

on the display. The timer is a simple way to help you keep track of how 

long the call lasts.

Ringer Volume Control

The ringer sound level can be adjusted by sliding the 

RINGER

 switch.

Select high (

HI

), medium (

MID

), or soft (

LO

) sound level. If you do not 

want to be disturbed, slide the 

RINGER

 switch to the OFF position.

The bright Red LED on the base will flash with all incoming calls.

Speaker Volume Control

You can adjust the speaker volume level that suits you by sliding the 

VOLUME

 switch.

Receiver Volume Control

The Loud LED is used to reflect the receiver volume setting. Press    + 

button, the Loud LED will turn on, then increase the receiver volume by 

rotating the       knob to select the listening level (level 1 to level 9). The 

Loud LED will be off if the receiver volume is set to the minimum level.

Tone Receiving Adjustment

You can also use the 

TONE HI/LO

 slide switch to increase the receiver 

volume of high frequency sounds according to your own hearing 

requirement. This will help words to be clearer and easier to understand.

Note:

 The tone adjustment function will not be effective if the receiver 

volume has been set to the minimum level.

Message Waiting Indicator

When you are unable to answer a call, the incoming call will be 

forwarded to a mail box where the caller can leave a message. 

The      symbol will light, and the display will indicate “

MESSAGE 

WAITING

” to alert you to listen to the stored message. The      symbol 

will turn off once the message is played. Or, you can press the 

DELETE

 

button once the display shows “

DELETE ?

”. Press and hold the 

DELETE

 button to turn off the new call LED and the “

MESSAGE 

WAITING

” message.

Note:

 Subscription is required to use the Message Waiting services.

    The Phone Book

Hearing Aid Compatibility

This unit is compatible with most coupled hearing aids on the market. 

However, due to the wide range of hearing aids available, there is no 

guarantee that this unit will function error free with every hearing aid 

model.

The Phone Book will store a maximum of 32 telephone numbers (22 digits 

max.) and their associated names (16 characters max) with entries 

arranged alphabetically. A stored phone number can be dialed using fewer 

keystrokes than if dialed manually. If you subscribe to a Caller ID service, 

the name/number of the caller will be shown when you receive an incoming 

call (only for those numbers stored in the Phone Book or 

M1

/

M2

 memories).

Letters

Each number key has been allocated certain characters.

    Memory

Dialing From The Phone Book

1.  Press        button.

2.  Scroll to the required memory location using     or     buttons. To 

quick search in the Phone Book press the corresponding number 

button one or more times for the first letter (refer to the table on the 

previous page).

3.  Press      button or 

CALL BACK

 button to dial the displayed number. 

If you do nothing the phone will return to standby mode.

Changing Phone Numbers/Names

1.  Press        button. 

2.  Scroll to the required memory location using     or     buttons.

3.  Press and hold 

STORE

 button until “

EDIT?

” is displayed. 

 Press 

STORE 

button.

4.  Changes to the displayed telephone number can be made using 

DELETE

 button and     or     buttons. Press

5.  Changes to the displayed name can be made using

Deleting A Phone Book Entry

1.  Press        button.

2.  Scroll to the required memory location using     or     buttons. 

3.  To delete a single number, press

telephone number disappears.

4.  To delete all numbers, press and hold

The telephone has 2 one-touch memories (

M1

) and 10 two-touch 

memories (

) for the most frequently dialed telephone numbers. When 

a number is stored into Memory you will press one or two buttons depending 

on where the desired number is stored. The direct one-touch memories are 

M1

 and 

M2

. To call a two-touch memory number, first press 

MEM

, then the 

corresponding numerical digit (0-9) on the keypad.

Storing One-Touch Memories

1. Press

2.  Enter the telephone number to be stored (up to 22 digits).

Caller ID

Caller ID allows you to see who is calling before you answer a call and

to see who has called in your absence. If the number is stored in the 

indirect memory, it’s associated name will be displayed instead. The

CID memory will store up to 32 name/telephone numbers stored 

chronologically. The sequence number is shown in the top right-hand 

side of the display. 

When the memory is full, the oldest number will be deleted automatically 

as the new call is logged. New calls are indicated in plain text in the

display and the flashing of the red New Call indicator.

Note:

 

In order for numbers to be shown, the Caller ID service must be 

provided by your network operator and a current subscription in place. 

Contact your telephone service operator for more information.

Retrieving And Dialing CID Numbers

1. Press 

CID

 button to select caller-ID mode.

2.  Press either     or     buttons to review the numbers stored in the 

Caller ID memory.

3.  To dial a displayed telephone number either press 

CALL BACK

 

button or      button. The displayed telephone number will now be 

dialed. If you do nothing the phone will return to standby mode.

Note:

 If the Caller ID number is 10 digits, press 

CALL BACK

 button 

once, the unit will insert “

1

” before the Caller ID number automatically.  

You can press     button repeatedly to select or unselect

 button again, the speakerphone will turn on automatically 

and dial the display number.

CID Call Types

Besides showing telephone numbers, the display can show a number of 

messages:

OUT OF AREA 

It is an International call or a call from a PBX (no

Information on the number is blocked. The call 

 

 

could also be from a PBX.

NEW  

 

Number not previously seen.

Deleting Numbers

1.  Scroll to the telephone number you wish to erase using     or     

buttons. 

2. Press 

DELETE

” will be displayed. Alternatively

3.  Press and hold

Transferring Numbers To The Phone Book

1.  Scroll to the telephone number you wish to copy using     or     

buttons. 

2. Press

4.  Name can later be added according to the section “Changing Phone

INDUSTRY CANADA CS03 STATEMENT

This product meets the applicable Industry Canada technical specifications. 

This is confirmed by the registration number. The abbreviation, IC before the 

registration number signifies that registration was performed based on a 

Declaration of Conformity indicating that Industry Canada technical 

specifications were met. It does not imply that Industry Canada approved 

the equipment.
Before installing this equipment, users should ensure that it is permissable to 

be connected to the facilities of the local telecommunications company. The 

equipment must also be installed using an acceptable method of connec-

tions. The customer should be aware that compliance with the above condi-

tions may not prevent degradation of service in some situations.
Repairs to certified equipment shold be made by an authorized Canadian 

maintenance facility designated by the supplier. Any repairs or alterations 

made by the user of this equipment, or equipment malfunctions, may give the 

telecommunications company cause to request the user to disconnect the 

equipment.

WARNING!

 Users should not attempt to make such connections themselves, 

but should contact the appropriate electric inspection authority, or an 

electrician, as appropriate.

CAUTION:

 The Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) assigned to each 

terminal device provides an indication of the maximum number of terminals 

allowed to be connected to a telephone interface. The termication on an 

interface may consist of any combination of devices subject only to the re-

quirement that the sum of the Ringer Equivalence Numbers of all the devices 

does not exceed 5. An alternative indication of the REN is the Load Number 

(LN). This number should be divided by 20 to approximate the equivalent 

REN. The REN Number of this unit is indicated on the bottom of your an-

swering machine.

The FCC Wants You To Know

This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a 

Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are 

designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a 

residential installation.

This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, 

if not installed or used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful 

interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that 

 interference will not occur in a particular installation.

If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television 

 reception, which can be determined by turning the  equipment off and on, the 

user is  encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the 

 following  measures:  1) reorient or relocate the receiving antenna; 2) increase 

the  separation between the equipment and the receiver; 3) connect  the

fied additional components or accessories elsewhere defined to be used with 

the installation of the product, they must be used in order to ensure compli-

ance  with FCC regulation.

(2) This device must accept any interference including interference that may 

cause undesired operation of the device.

THE SOURCE WARRANTY

The Source warrants that this product will be free from defects in 

materials and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date 

of purchase. Within this period, simply take the product and your proof 

of purchase to any The Source store or dealer and the product will be 

repaired without charge for parts and labour. The Source reserves the 

right to charge for transportation. Any product which has been subject 

to misuse or accidental damage is excluded from this warranty.

This warranty is only applicable to a product purchased through The 

Source company owned stores and dealers and to a product that is 

presented for repair in a country where The Source offers the product 

for sale. While this warranty does not confer any legal rights other than 

those set out above, you may have additional statutory rights which 

will vary under the laws of the various countries, states, province 

and other governmental entities in which The Source operates. This
