Which Extinguisher To Use

To determine which class or classes of
fire your exl1ngu1sher 1s designed to
fight, loca te the use code symbols on
the front extinguisher label.
Using the wrong extinguisher on a fire
could do more harm than good. Be sure
you understand whicil extinguisher is
appropriate for each class of fire. For
protection against ALL COMMON
CLASSES OF FIRES, you must choose a
type ABC extinguisher.
Inspection And Maintenance
To ensure that your fire extinguisher
will be ready when needed:
• Read and follow all instructions on
label and in owner’s manual.
• Inspect the extinguisher AT LEAST
once a month • more frequently if
exposed to weather or possible
tampering.
• Check that extinguisher is charged.
Pointer on pressure indicator MUST
be in green section. If pointer is in red
or white section..extinguisher is NOT
ready for use.
• Be sure the lock pin is firmly in place.
• Keep the extinguisher clean. Check
for dents, scratches, corrosion or any
other damage.
• Check the discharge noule. Make
sure it is clean and free of obstructions.

lnspecci6n y Mantenimiento

How To Use Your
Kidde Extinguisher
Follow instructions
shown on the front label
of your f ire extinguisher.
After the fire ,s out, clean up dry chemical
powde, 1mmed1ate ly to avoid corrosion.
CAUTION: Under certa,11 frre and heat
cond1t1ons, the dry chemtCal powder In
ABC type extinguishers will cause damage
or prove extremely difficult to
remove frorn oven surfaces, including
self-cleaning models. Do not use selfcleaning
feature to remove ABC Powder.
BC type extinguishers are recommended
for cooking areas.
CAUTION: The ager1t contained in this
extinguisher is not toxic, but may cause
skin irritation. Avoid inhaling the dry
chemical agent. In case of contact, flush
affected area with clean, cool water. If
irritation persists, contact a physician
immediately. Chemical name of agent is
printed on extinguisher label.
For more information on fire fighting, contact
your local fire department or the U.S.
Coast Guard. Additional information on
extinguishers can be found in the National
Fire Protection Association (NFPA) pamphlet
No. 1 O, ” Portable Fire Extinguishers.”
Mounting Your Extinguisher
Please follow the instructions and diagrams
below for mounting the bracket
that was supplied with your fire extinguisher.
The hanger or bracket provided
with the extinguisher must be used. Use
of an extist ing hanger or bracket may not
properly support or retain the extinguisher.
U.S. Coast Guard approval is valid only
with the marine mounting bracket specified
on the instruction label of your
extinguisher.

Colocaci6n de su Extinguidor
La aprobaci6n de la Marina de las EEUU
es valida s6\o con el soporte especificado
en la etiqueta ubicada en la parte posterior
de su extinguidor. Los Mode\os de
KIDDE (5, 10, 110) estan equipados con
un soporte de plAstico que es aceptado
por la Marina de Los EEUU.

IF YOUR EXTINGUISHER WAS SHIPPED
WITH A PLASTIC BRACKET AND METAL
STRAP then mount your extinguisher as
follows:
1. Fasten bracket to suitable
surface using a screw in the upper bracket
mounting hole.
2. Mount the metal strap provided with your
extinguisher in the lower bracket mounting
hole u~ng another screw.
3. Place extinguisher into bracket and latch
the strap to hold the extinguisher securely
in place.
IF YOUR EXTINGUISHER WAS SHIPPED WITH
A HOSE AND HOSE STRAP, then ~ide the
hose strap over the bottom of the cylinder,
and secure the nozzle end of the hose to
the hose strap before placing your extinguisher
in service.

tornillo de 1/4 de pulgada en diametro.
3. Ponga el extinguidor en la montura y
apriete la banda para que aguante el
extinguidor seguro en su lugar.
